Health concerns with the use of X Ray Radiation

Are the airport scanning machines safe; are there no dangerous side effects? We are told that they are completely safe, but how thoroughly have they been tested. According to reports about CAT scan machines they were suppose to be very safe, now we find out that they (CAT scan machines) give off  many times more radiation then X Ray machines. CAT scans are now known to raise the risk of cancer in some limited cases. Even web sites for medical clinics that are well know and respected, report that CAT scans raise risks of developing cancer. These sites recommend that CAT scans should only be used when there are symptoms and when all other attempts at diagnose have failed and should be used only as a last resort and their use should be limited. CAT scans have medical uses and have saved many lives, but there are also dangers, and we are just now finding out about some of these dangers even though they have been used since the 1970s. In the 1980s CAT scan machines were used extensively in schools scanning perfectly health children, which goes against modern recommendation. Those children are now adults and may have higher risks of developing cancer. Old CAT scan machines were less efficient then today’s machines and gave off larger amounts of radiation, 100s of times more radiation then X Ray machines.

Airport scanning machines have only been around for a short time and yet those controlling the use of these machines say they are completely safe, just like what was said about CAT scan machines back in the 80s. There are Medical Research Clinics that are questioning the safety of these machines. Maybe the general public should do something about the testing of the airport scanning machines. Why not test the machines ourselves, document every phase of extensive tests both before and after. Action could then be taken against the manufacture of the machines, if there are any dangerous side effects. Have Lawyers who can document every phase of the tests to make sure that the evidence would stand up in court. It would be easy for customers of the airports to have themselves tested, skin tests, sperm tests, egg tests and blood tests, testing for any abnormal conditions, right before they go to the airport. Make themselves a target by wearing baggy cloths or what ever makes you stand out, on the TSA’s watch list, make sure it is nothing that will get you in trouble.

Then after going through the scanner leave the airport instead of going on the flight, miss your flight on purpose, go straight to the doctor, maybe a different doctor at a different hospital and have all the same tests run again. Has no one done this? Extensive testing of the scanning machines and finding out they have dangerous side affects, would make it impossible for them to be used as they are now. Maybe the scanners would have no adverse affects on the extensive testing, but if there are dangerous side effects there would be plenty of evidence. It would be nice to know for sure, do we really want to leave our fate in the hands of bureaucrats who can’t seem to get anything right, just look at history, the history of CAT scanner for one thing. If dangerous side effects are found and documented, the maker of the scanners could be forced to recall the entire inventory of airport scanning machines, and investigate who knew of the dangers.

It would take money to hire the Lawyers and do the tests, personally I would do it if I had the money, but I don’t. Sure there would be dangers but I have already gone through one of the scanning machines. I did not feel good after going through it, but after an hour I felt better. I would like to know why I did not feel good after going through the machine. I do not care about the images that the machines make, I just care about my health and the health of others. If I want to travel I will have to go through the scanning machines, unless someone does something about them by running extensive tests.

I try to be more observant, when I was traveling to New Jersey from San Diego I noticed that both San Diego and New Jersey airports were using most of their scanning machines, but at Chicago airport they were not using their scanning machines at all, that I could see. I thought this was an interesting observation, I have no idea why but like I said it was interesting. The TSA agents had the machines blocked off so that people could not go through them and the airport passengers were going through the metal detectors instead.
